Pub Trends.
The emerging trend in Pub furnishings can be summed up in one word – Comfort! From traditional country pubs to local community sites all are introducing more comfort for their customers.
All seats are padded and more and more chair backs are too. In the majority of new schemes specific ‘soft’ areas are introduced with sofas and comfy tub chairs encouraging longer stays. Some of these areas are used to hold customers before a table becomes available for food or to help ‘turn’ tables by offering comfy corners for coffees. Many sofas are introduced just to make a ‘home from home’ appeal
The Pub Stuff sofas are made with extra strong frames, durable real leather and sewn in cushions to ensure they stay looking lovely for years! The 2 seater sofa is only 1500mm (less than 5ft) wide making it ideal for pubs even those with awkward corners.
In busy pubs landlords are opting to move some bar stools away from the bar itself. This is because a row of customers sitting along the bar can make it really difficult for others to be served and can also be a little intimidating. The solution is to introduce one or two high level ‘poseur’ tables with
high stools or high chairs – they only need to be a little way away to still have that bar room buzz but not the congestion that so often comes with it.
How to achieve that Eclectic Mix....
When you walk into some pubs you can’t quite work out why it looks lovely, has a quality ambience and feels cosy and warm after all none of the furniture even matches!
Its a clever technique and one that lots of landlords ask me to emulate for them – heres a few tips to make it work for you.
Choose a narrow range of wood colours: Dark-mid tones, or light-mid tones.
Upholstery fabrics are key here: choose a ‘family’ of fabrics perhaps different shades of the same pattern or different patterns with a few common colours running through them.
Introduce some comfort – padded back chairs and soft comfy chairs add to the quality feel and the coordinated upholstery really shines through.
Add a WOW factor – introduce a couple of statement furniture pieces such as leather wing chairs for example.
This look works best if the room is spilt up into cosy intimate spaces – you can use plants or simple partitions.
High and Low
Varying the height of your furniture will add interest. Try putting high poseur tables and stools next to groups of soft tub chairs.
